What is the Manuscript

It started off as a short story task for a friend to get me to write. The brief was a sentence and had a 3000-word limit. I couldn’t manage it, but I wrote something remotely in the interest of people I knew. In the long term, the unsure goal is to finish a novel-length of words. Till then, here are the unfinished words.
